Derek Dale is an American filmmaker from Anaheim, California. He has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Motion Picture from Brooks Institute of Photography. Derek has worked as a director, director of photography, head of production and producer. Derek has been the director of photography for hundreds of music videos for artists such as Blink 182, Limp Bizkit, Pennywise, Descendents, AFI, MxPx, Jimmy Eat World, Tupac Shakur, 311, Kottonmouth Kings, Gwar, Engelbert Humperdink, Cojunta Primavera and Suicidal Tendencies. In the late 90’s and early 2000’s these videos aired worldwide on MTV, MTV2 and remained for months on end in top 10 lists around the country. In recent years Derek has been the head of production and/or producer on music videos for artists such as Sum 41, Fais featuring Afrojack, Dillon Francis, Panic At The Disco (nominated for MTV “Best Rock Video”), Ty Dollar $ign, Halestorm, Borns, Melanie Martinez and Dark Waves. These videos have hundreds of millions of views online. Derek has been focussing his efforts on directing now. His short film The Altruist will be released soon. He has directed music videos for artists such as Good Riddance, Pennywise, Halo Friendlies, Ten Foot Pole, Strung Out, No Use For A Name, Project 86, Demon Hunter, Himsa and The Bangkok Five. His video “94 Hours” for As I Lay Dying was voted into Revolver Magazine’s “Top 20 Best Metal Videos of the New Millennium”. ESPN, Jack In The Box, Delta Airlines, Epic Records, Epitaph Records, Tooth & Nail Records and Fat Wreck Chords are some of the clients Derek has directed for. Derek’s favorite place he has worked is Ireland. Some of the favorite people he has met during his career are Maila Nurmi (Vampira), Sidney Poitier, Ron Santo, Bill Paxton and the boys from Blink 182.
